In this seminar, I will provide a brief introduction to the High-Resolution Electron Microscopy Laboratory (LaMAR) of UFF. Following this, several research topics related to nanomaterials undertaken in the laboratory will be presented. One example is the study of superconductivity in the Ni-Bi system. While neither pure Ni nor Bi exhibit superconductivity, their bilayers prepared at room temperature and 80 K show a superconducting transition with critical temperature (Tc) ~ 4 K. Our detailed microstructural study of the interface between Ni and Bi in these bilayers revealed that the superconductivity originates from the intermetallic compounds NiBi3 and NiBi, which form spontaneously during sample preparation. Oscillation of the Tc as a function of the thickness of the Ni-Bi bilayer in this system was observed. This Tc oscillation occurs in samples that satisfy both quantum size limits (QSL) and coherence (CSL) limits. Due to the low density of states near the Fermi level, the mean free path of electrons becomes larger than the thickness of the bismuth thin films, thus enabling the observation of the Tc oscillation in the Ni-Bi system.

邢玉涛教授,巴西Fluminense联邦大学金沙以诚为本赢在信誉博士生导师,化学与工程研究生部主任,UFF高分辨电子显微实验室主任;巴西CNPq科研津贴1D级,获FAPERJ 里约州科学家津贴,在UFF工作期间,从零开始创建了纳米材料制备实验室,高分辨电子显微实验室。科研方向主要集中在可持续发展的材料应用,催化剂,绿色能源等等。承接了FAPERJ,FINEP 和CNPQ 等基金委的重大科研课题,目前是 CNPq 科研津贴 (1D级) 和里约热内卢州科学家津贴获得者。承接了巴西石油公司 (PETROBRAS) 和 TechnipFMC 等公司的科研任务。留组经费超过700万美元。目前致力于和中海油,中石油,巴西石油公司共同创建一个以高分辨电子显微学为基础的高级材料分析测试中心。在国际刊物上发表论文一百多篇,多次参与组织国际会议分会,以及UFF高分辨电子显微及纳米加工夏令营。
